A Special Tribute at the Columbia County Fair’s 175th Celebration

As the Columbia County Fair celebrates its 175th year July 29–August 2, 2026, families can look forward to a heartfelt new addition that honors both tradition and community.
This year, fairgoers will meet “Mary,” an interactive model dairy cow created in memory of longtime volunteer Mary Becker, whose dedication helped shape the fair experience for generations of children and families.
For more than 20 years, Mary led Cloverbuds, organized youth activities, and played an essential role in creating the welcoming, family-centered traditions so many have cherished at the fair. Her dream was to bring a model milking cow to the fairgrounds, giving children a fun, hands-on way to learn about agriculture and Wisconsin’s farming heritage.
Thanks to memorial donations from family, friends, and community supporters, that dream is now a reality.
As the fair honors 175 years of memories, agriculture, and community connection, “Mary” serves as a touching tribute to the people whose passion and service have helped make the Columbia County Fair a beloved tradition for generations.
