Holiday Train

Nothing kicks off the holiday spirit in Columbus quite like the annual visit of the Holiday Train.

The combination of train, light show, and concert draws thousands from across the state to Columbus to share and spread some holiday cheer. The Holiday Train is decorated with Christmas lights and travels along the Canadian Pacific Rail Line. The train makes stops at various communities for musical performances. The sides of a box car drop down to reveal a stage and band which play various seasonal classics.

Official announcements will be made on cpr.ca/holiday-train/united-states, Canadian Pacific Rail’s official Holiday Train website.

Updates will also be shared on the city’s website and Facebook pages. A Facebook event is on the city’s page: www.facebook.com/CityofColumbusWI.

“I am expecting a great turn out, and want to commend city staff for all of their effort spent organizing such a wonderful event,” said Mayor Michael Thom. “This year will be best year yet, or your money back,” joked the city’s Community Outreach Coordinator, JT Cestkowski, about the free concert when asked for comment.

The Holiday Train will benefit Crossroads Food Pantry, one of two such organizations in Columbus.

While attendance is free, organizers ask that you make a monetary contribution or bring nonperishable food items to the pantry. On the night of the event, concert-goers will be able to drop off their donations behind the Amtrak station.

The 20th Annual Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be stopping in Columbus on Friday December 7. Save the date and stay tuned for more information.
