Here are some fun facts about Earth Day!

Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22 in support of environmental protection.

The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970.

Wisconsin Senator, Gaylord Nelson was inspired to start the Earth Day annual tradition after the 1969 tragic oil spill in Santa Barbara, CA.

Today, nearly 200 countries are coordinated globally to celebrate
Earth Day.

It is believed that 1 billion people take part in Earth Day each year.


TGVG Challenges YOU to participate in Earth Day on April 22, and every day! Below is a small list of ways you can do your part toward making a big difference:

  • Whenever Possible, Walk or Ride Your Bike instead of Riding in a Car
  • Recycle
  • Pick Up and Properly Dispose of Litter
  • Plant Something
  • Use Reusable Items Such as Water
  • Bottles and Grocery Bags
  • Always Turn off Lights
  • Select “Energy Saving” mode instead of “Instant On” on your electronics
  • Don’t Stream Videos through Your Game Console
  • Turn Off the Water While Brushing Your Teeth
  • Turn off Electronics When Not in Use
  • Do Not Leave Electronics Charging Unnecessarily
  • Don’t Stand With the Refrigerator Door Open
  • Shorten Your Shower Time
